BELLINGHAM, WASHINGTON-- Security Solutions announced last week they will donate $0.10 from every key they cut at Bellingham Lock & Safe to local foster care nonprofit Skookum Kids, beginning Dec. 1. They call the campaign “Keys 4 Kids.”

“We exist to provide opportunities, both locally and globally, for people to create better lives,” Bryce Benham, Director of Operations for Security Solutions, said. “We call that our playbook and it is our entire motivation to succeed as a business. Skookum Kids is a natural fit for us.”

Skookum Kids is a foster care nonprofit that was named Nonprofit of the Year in 2017 by the Whatcom Chamber of Commerce. Skookum provides care for children across western Washington who have just entered foster care. They also license and support foster parents throughout Whatcom and Skagit counties.

On average, Bellingham Lock & Safe cuts about 1400 keys a month. Keys 4 Kids will begin Dec. 1 and continue indefinitely.

Security Solutions is a life safety and security company based in Bellingham that specializes in video surveillance technology. Bellingham Lock & Safe is their locksmith branch for which they opened a separate shop in November 2016. This year, they were a finalist for the Whatcom Business Alliance’s Small Business of the Year.

“While the Business Alliance might call Security Solutions a small business, there is nothing small about their impact or their vision,” said Ray Deck, founding director at Skookum Kids. “We’ve loved having them as our neighbors and are honored to receive support in this creative way.”

Security Solutions has seen a 25 percent year-over-year growth in the last three years and has expanded to the Seattle area. Owner, Jamie Vos, says Security Solutions desires growth because it allows them the opportunity to give back to their community. In addition to Keys 4 Kids, Security Solutions also sponsors Rebound of Whatcom County and just recently finished building a school in India.

Skookum Kids was founded in 2015 by Ray Deck III in Bellingham, Washington. This non-profit organization is dedicated to repairing the foster care system by equipping those already affected by the system and educating those who are not. It is staffed by seven full-time and four part-time employees and over 100 volunteers. For more information, visit their website at www.skookumkids.org.
